Meditation and Dharma Talk (Sundays, 10 to 11:30 am): This is our main weekly meeting. 30 minutes of zazen (silent seated meditation), 5 minutes of kinhin (walking meditation), 25 minutes of zazen, followed by a 30 minute Dharma talk and discussion.
Mindfulness Meditation (Mondays, 7 to 8:15pm): This is an informal class in which we explore the techniques of mindful meditation. Chairs and cushions are provided. Guided practices may include watching the breath, body scans, walking meditation, and metta (a practice designed to cultivate compassion for self and others). There will be some guided meditation, as well as plenty of silence, giving you the opportunity to look within and practice quietly. We end the time with an interactive discussion. All are welcome!
Meditation and Discussion (and Thursdays, 7 to 8:15 pm):30 minutes of zazen, 5 minutes of kinhin, 10 minutes of zazen, 15 minutes for open discussion. The teacher/group leader will present a topic to discuss.
Silent Meditation (Wednesdays and Fridays, 12 to 1pm.): 30 minutes zazen, 5 minutes kinhin, 25 minutes of zazen. You can come for the entire hour, or enter/leave during walking meditation at 12:30. An opportunity to speak privately with a teacher is offered as well.
Beginners' Orientation (last Sunday of each month, 9:15 to 10am): An introduction to meditation postures and techniques. Get to know our style of practice, our lineage, and ways to practice at OMZN.
